SEPW SAFEGUARDING POLICY 2019/20
The SEPW Academy train their members to become professional wrestlers in a safe and professional environment. SEPW is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all its members, ensuring a positive and enjoyable experience for all.

SEPW believes that it is important that members, coaches, volunteers and parents associated with the academy should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others regardless of age, gender, ability, racial heritage, cultural background, religious beliefs or sexual orientation and identity.
Our head coach Matthew Huntley has 15 years experience as a professional wrestler, has a full DBS Check and is a qualified Level 3 Personal Trainer and Sports First Aider. In addition to this in April 2018 Matthew completed a Child Safeguarding course.
We have taken advice from Shepway Sports Trust, Sport England, Kent County Council and the NSPCC to produce this document. In addition to this the SEPW Academy is an affiliated member of the Shepway Sport Trust.
The Academy has appointed a Safeguarding Officer who will be available at training sessions and events outside of the Academy to deal with any arising issue or concerns. All of our coaches and staff are DBS checked.

All Coaches are required to ensure that they are familiar with the Academy’s policies and procedures related to Safeguarding and our code of conduct.
Dealing with allegations of misconduct against Coaches and Trainees under Safeguarding and Child Protection
All allegations must be reported to the Safeguarding Officer as soon as coaches and / or trainees are aware of an allegation. If, for whatever reason, you are unable to contact the Safeguarding Officer then you should contact the Deputy Safeguarding Officer. If the allegation is in relation to the conduct of the Safeguarding Officer(s) then this should be raised with Matthew Huntley.
Whilst any allegation is being investigated, South East Professional Wrestling may ask that the people involved do not attend meetings, training and/or live events. We may also feel the need to involve outside associations including Social Services and the Police.
After an allegation has been reported, the first priority is to ensure that the health and welfare of those involved and to make sure that no immediate medical attention is required.
Abuse
There are many categories of abuse and include areas such as physical, emotional, sexual and neglect.
South East Professional Wrestling will not tolerate abuse of any kind and if any coaches, academy members or wrestlers are found to be in breach of this they will removed with immediate effect and further legal action may be taken against them.
All Coaches, academy members and wrestlers are encouraged to be mindful of their use of Social Media and expressing their views on certain issues, including religion, race and politics.
Where possible we would encourage separate personal and professional accounts and that coaches and trainees are mindful of the impression they are making whilst representing South East Professional Wrestling.
