SEPW CODE OF CONDUCT

SEPW Academy

SEPW is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all its members, ensuring a positive and enjoyable experience for all. The academy believes that it is important that members, coaches, staff members and parents associated with the academy should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others. Therefore, members are encouraged to be open at all times and to share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of the club with CLARE PRESCOTT (Safeguarding Officer). If, for any reason, you are unable to contact Clare then please contact Amy Huntley (Deputy Safeguarding Officer).

As a member of the SEPW Academy, you are expected to abide by the following code of practice:

  • All members must take responsibility in ensuring they are up to date with policies, understand and adhere to them.

  • All members must respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of age, gender, ability, race, cultural background, religious beliefs or sexual identity.

  • All members should be a positive role model, treat other academy members and coaches with the same level of respect you would expect to be shown to you.

  • Use correct and proper language at all times.

  • Members are not allowed to smoke, consume alcohol or drugs on club premises or whilst representing the academy.

  • Members should keep to agreed timings for training and events or inform their coach and event producer if they are going to be late.

  • Members must wear suitable clothing for training and events, as agreed with the coach/event producer.

  • Members must pay any fees for training or events promptly.

  • We will not make excuses or blame others.

  • We will lift each other up, not tear each other down.

  • We will give 100% effort at every session and every event.

DESIRED OUTCOMES

Come to training with a positive attitude so you can enjoy the activities and have fun.

Develop a sense of responsibility, commitment, and teamwork within SEPW. The SEPW Academy belongs to all of us. It’s an extension of our family.  With ownership comes the responsibility for its success.  SEPW staff will stress that no individual is more important than the team.  Everyone is equal and must do their individual jobs to make the team successful.  With team success, individual success follows.  When one succeeds, we all succeed.

Professional wrestling is hard on the body, trainees must mentally and physically prepare for the rigours of wrestling. The quicker each trainee understands this and develops this mindset, the better off they will be.  This is a hard sport that requires hard work. Soreness is common and should be expected.

Represent the academy and SEPW in a positive manner.  Do not do anything that would embarrass the academy, SEPW, or each other.

EXPECTATIONS FOR THE WRESTLERS

Work hard and give 100% at all times.  This is the building block for success.  If you don’t work hard you will not succeed as an individual.

Support your teammates.  Some trainees are more skilled and developed than others.

More advanced wrestlers should encourage the beginner wrestlers and help them improve.

Respect your coaches. Inappropriate comments will not be tolerated.

There is a zero tolerance policy toward bullying and harassment.

Wrestlers or trainees caught bullying and/or harassing another individual will removed.

EXPECTATIONS FOR PARENTS

Support your wrestler, the coaches and other Academy members.  We are all in this together and are working for the same goal.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THE SEPW STAFF

We will provide a safe and supportive training facility.

We will have fun.

We will stress “The Team” concept above all else.

We will treat wrestlers with fairness, firmness, and respect.

We will not degrade a wrestler.

We will constructively address behaviour that we feel is inappropriate.

We will teach safe and effective wrestling techniques.

We will praise good wrestling.

We will not baby wrestlers.

We will not tolerate wrestlers who bully or harass others.

We will be professional at all times.

We will keep you informed about all issues as soon as we are given the information.

If the staff has issues with a wrestler we will take it up with the wrestler and we will try to solve the issue internally.

EVENT POLICY

All trainees are expected to attend all live events whether they are performing or not, to gain experience and help with setup. Discounted tickets for family and friends are always offered but these MUST be purchased in advance.

No trainee is guaranteed a place to perform on shows, wrestlers need to prepare to perform and those that are developing during training are those that are likely to be asked to perform. Wrestling requires a lot of time and effort, SEPW are making a commitment to trainees and we ask the same level of commitment is returned.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Be very selective and use common sense when posting on social media or wrestling forums. Never post negative comments about our academy, other trainees or another training academy/school/gym/promotion etc. Stay positive at all times, and NEVER post anything that could prove embarrassing to the academy, our promotion or our community. Trainees are strongly encouraged to create a character profile and keep this separate from their personal accounts.

HYGIENE

Due to close contact while wrestling, good hygiene is critical. Wrestlers are expected to wear clean gym gear to every session and bring their own towel to dry yourself down.

HYDRATION

As with all athletic endeavour you must stay hydrated, remember to bring water with you.

MOST OF ALL

Have fun, stay safe.
